How to use it

  1. Click into the document and start typing. Markdown shortcuts work as you type, for example "## " for a heading or "- " for a list.
  2. Select text for the formatting toolbar, or type / at the start of a line to insert a table, code block, image or other block.
  3. Your draft is saved in this browser and shared with the Markdown Previewer. "Clear draft" deletes it.
  4. Images from other websites are blocked until you tick "Load remote images". Uploaded images are embedded in the Markdown.
  5. Copy the Markdown, download a .md file, or click Export PDF and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog.

Questions

Is the result real Markdown?

Yes. Every edit is saved as Markdown, so you can copy it into GitHub, a README or a static site. Open the Markdown Previewer to see or edit the source; it opens the same draft.

Where do uploaded images go?

Nowhere. They are embedded in the Markdown as data: URLs, so they stay in your browser. Large images make the Markdown large, and a draft bigger than your browser’s storage limit (usually about 5 MB) stops being saved.

Why are my images blocked?

Loading an image from another website tells that website your IP address and that you opened the document. Images stay blocked until you tick "Load remote images", which lasts until you close the tab.

Where is my draft saved?

In your browser’s local storage on this device only. It is never uploaded. "Clear draft" deletes it.
