Text Diff Checker

Compare two texts and see what changed, by line, word or character.

🔒 Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right.
  2. Choose to compare by lines (best for code), words (best for prose) or characters.
  3. Added text is green with a +, removed text is red with a −. The counts are shown above.
  4. Turn on "Ignore whitespace" to skip changes in indentation and spacing, or copy the comparison as a unified patch.

Questions

What is "Copy as patch"?

It copies the changes as a unified diff, the format git diff produces. You can apply it with git apply or patch, or paste it into a code review.

Why does it say there are too many differences?

Comparing two very different long texts by character or word takes a long time, so it stops after a second rather than freezing the page. Compare by lines instead.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Both texts are compared in your browser, and the page’s security policy blocks it from sending your data anywhere.
